The sculptures of Emmanuele De Ruvo (Naples, 1983) amuse and disturb. The artist, who lives and works in Naples, has developed a surrealist style. He combines studies of physical mechanics, art, philosophy, politics and economics. Completion of this complex system of knowledge, mixed and united as in a magical theory, is the delicate balance of 'ready-made'. In the series 'Destrutturazioni’, objects like chairs and cans are balanced on the edge or one leg, out of the ordinary state of stability.
His work will be presented on Sunday 20 until 30 December 2009, at Largo Barracche, in the group-show 'The Wall', with works by Mary Cinque, Corrado Lamattina and Elpidio Ziello, edited by Mariano Ipri, Giuseppe and Pietro Ruffo Tatafiore , inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall. ‘Napoli:x x0 → ∞=Lautrémont:bello come l’incontro casuale di una macchina da cucire e d’un ombrello su di un tavolo da dissezione’ - 'Naples: x x0 = Lautrémont: beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella on a dissecting table' is an installation shown in the exhibition ‘Nuova Immagine Napoletana’ at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Naples, in 2008. The sculpture made by a series of chairs, black and white, divided into two groups, facing each other. The chairs are kept in balance to produce a dynamic continuity. The structure transmits a movement despite its precarious stability. The installation begins with the walls of the gallery similar to a rickety bridge that connects two different sizes. In the space that separates the black chairs from the white creep, a skeleton and a book, facing one another.
Poised on the skull there's a black candle that during the opening, lit, burned to count the hours. Slowly the wax has melted, pouring from the top of the sculpture on the floor. The structure support herself without any outside intervention according to the scale of the curves of bending with two hinges of the base.
The artwork belongs to the series ‘Rappresentazioni dinamiche dello 0’ – ‘Dynamic Representation of the 0’ - sculptures based on the ability to create an unusual balance through the endless possibilities of combining objects and elements gaps, through the supports and constraints.
The 0 is the absence of movement achieved through a closed circuit of forces in perfect opposition. An organism that lives for itself, independent. Until an outside force intervenes to alter the balance described. The skeleton is both a symbol of death and a desire of immortality. The representation of the human against the clock to leave a trace, a memory, the memory of itself beyond the life through the spiritual elevation, art and culture. The book is the place to draw in pursuit of this elevation.
Emmanuele De Ruvo translates  physics and mechanics laws as a metaphor for the condition of existence and life. Scientific theories reflect the socio-cultural dynamics of our time to analyze in depth the dynamics that make them such. The control and power derive from the ability to exert a certain force. The stability gained comes from the ability to maintain this force.
The search for De Ruvo is given to the possibility to investigate the ways that a particular strength to evade the ordinary conditions of equilibrium of a certain object and to produce a universe with its physical laws and on different levels that fuse scientific theories and cultural rather than aesthetic, based on experiments and the incessant search for stability. Unpredictable combinations to look naive, hide the contrary extreme rationality. Everything is right there where it should be but it seems a coincidence. Even if the balance is destined to collapse sooner or later and find a new stability.

Mechanic of the Thought_ Emmanuele De Ruvo

The ‘Rappresentazione dinamica dello 0’  - 'Dynamic Representation of the 0' - is equivalent to the transmigration of psychic psychic substantive content relating to degrees of freedom in the substance. Action and fundamental condition for dynamic representation of 0. So there can be no correct structure if the mind is not fully conscious and in control of conditions that characterize it. The establishment provides for the love of the tightrope balance, the fear of structural failure, the confrontation with the unknown, the research center of gravity, the awareness of the ephemeral terror of the pass and devotion towards the final abyss.
 
The evolutionary path of my artistic research, physical and physiological side technical matter and is based on the perception of it, its special visual, tactile, physical and sensory.
The conceptual aspect is otherwise directed to investigate, expose and denounce, the "control systems" of contemporary society and the creation and imposition of the limit.
The centralization of power and big capital in few hands, makes the structural balance of the company is outlined by a few strong points, just as architecturally hundreds of tons of iron and cement are held up as foundations and small percentage (in numerical and volumetric) of pillars.
The worldwide prevalence of the mass media, control systems have used more and more ruthlessly to a new language and a new aesthetic for today's mass psychology.
The bombing media specially designed by psychologists at the service of a servant of the multinationals is to make us feel useless and unhappy children in the age of mass consumption, in which the image Council, through unconscious and subliminal message is: "have to be ", which is inversely proportional to the elevation of man's spiritual, creative and dynamic spirit of being human.

The structure of top-down control means creates enormous forces, devastating, which strongly influence the structure of society, taking the reins of a tacit precarious balance that worked in time, when is zero, and sets the limit between the individual and company. The balance on which the fate of man walking is the certificate of the human frailties of memory, (the art cannot be a human) and, therefore, everything that happens, you must, but even more necessary is describe the conditions of events.
So why has the balance of origin, the soul or the form or structure that it represents, must be in condition to remain "firm" (v = 0 / w = 0) in the evolution of a dynamic system of forces and emotions. The moment the black becoming more dense and complete silence, because those spaces that remain we strive to understand, areas in which stand out only dismal creaking caused by structural failure of materials and then the man himself. We must acquire the perpendicular and the relationship between the segments that compose it, between spiritual and uplifting journey in life and the core melt, accepting empirically that the structure is only the system by which we arrive, or you try to reach all 'equilibrium.
